Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Pomsera Learning (the "Site") collects, how it is used, and your choices. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.

Information we collect

We do not require you to create an account to read the Site. We may process the following:

• Information you send us. If you email us (for example at [email protected]), we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
• Technical data. Like most websites, our hosting provider may automatically log basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, for security and to keep the Site running.
• First-party audience measurement. To understand and improve what we publish, the Site records article views, broad country and language, referral channel, device/browser category, active reading time and approximate reading depth. Repeat views and approximate unique readers are counted with a one-way server hash derived from technical request data; the raw IP address and full user-agent string are not stored in analytics. A random per-tab session identifier is kept in session storage until that tab is closed. We do not use this information for advertising or to build a profile about an identifiable person.
• Cookies and browser storage. The public Site does not use advertising cookies. A first-party cookie remembers your answer to the browser-storage notice for one year. If you choose "Allow personalisation", your browser also keeps a score of which series and courses you read most (each article you open, and each one you spend time reading, adds to the score of its series or course, scores halve every week, and a series or course you have not read from in 30 days is deleted). This profile is stored only in your browser's local storage and is not sent to Pomsera. If you choose "Essential only", nothing is scored. You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer; choosing "Essential only" deletes the profile immediately. If you use the optional progress controls in Electronics 101, Learn PCB Design, or Learn FPGA Design, your completed and last-visited lessons are stored locally in your browser and are not sent to Pomsera. A separate essential session cookie is used only when an authorized editor signs in to the private admin area.

Embedded content

Some articles embed third-party content, such as YouTube videos. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which avoids setting cookies until you play a video. When you interact with embedded content, that third party (for example Google/YouTube) may collect data according to its own privacy policy, which we do not control.

How we use information

We use the limited information above to respond to your messages, to operate and secure the Site, and to understand and improve what we publish. We do not sell your personal data.

Data retention

We keep correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request or as required by law. Detailed audience-measurement facts and daily technical analytics are kept for 90 days; aggregate article-view totals may be kept longer. Security and hosting logs are kept for a limited operational period.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact us at the address below. Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis for processing the limited data above is our legitimate interest in operating the Site and responding to you. The optional personalisation profile described above relies on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Children

The Site is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last modified" date at the top reflects the most recent version.
